As many of you know, my I have been involved in some part of the book industry for many years. Of course, first I was a fan of books. I later started working at a bookstore, became manager, spent days talking with book reps, and even had the opportunity to do some ordering and buying decisions. My favorite part of this job was talking books with customers. After that journey ended, I was put in charge of publishing my mother's book and have since helped others, promoted different books, and even designed some covers. Now, I am writing my own book. Can you tell I love everything about the book industry?
When I had the opportunity to participate in this campaign, I jumped at it because it has given me a chance to get deeper into the industry and learn about the social side of publishing.
Anna Todd is the typical 25-year-old. She is a huge fan of One Direction and has a huge love of reading. Last spring, she began writing After on her phone as a hobby. Well, not just on her phone. She used an app called Wattpad, which is a social reading and writing app. She even used a pen name, Imaginator1D.
After is the story of Tessa and her sometimes on, sometimes off boyfriend, Hardin Scott (inspired by Harry Styles of One Direction). Anna would publish a new installment of After every few days on Wattpad. Her love story grew to 2,500 pages, more than a billion views, and even over a million comments. Now, that's a lot of fans!
After is now being published as a 4 part series by Gallery Books (an imprint of Simon & Schuster). Also, after the first book was released in October, Paramount Pictures bought the rights to the movie. Wow!
