Business Doing Good: Ashley's Safe Pack

A while ago, I brought you a post about The DocSafe and how truly amazing the service is. I also wrote about how to organize with The Docsafe. Since then, I have been chatting with Joshua about their newest project. I feel very passionate about what they are doing, so I offered anything I can do for them. One of those things I can do is to offer my blog as a megaphone to spread the word. Now that the project has been announced, I want to tell you all about it.

The Keleskes and Ashley's family are doing their part to help women (and men) in abusive relationships. This is a sad and touching story. It can't bring Ashley back, but can help other women. If you know of a woman that needs this, a women's shelter that could use this resource for their ladies, would like to help out, or would like more information, then reach out. You can contact The Docsafe, or email me (thepalmettoqueen(at)gmail(dot)com) and I'll put you in touch with the appropriate people.

The story of how this came together and what is happening now to ensure the success of the program is below. It is also found here.

As their daughter's accused killer sits behind bars awaiting trial, the family of a murdered Tampa Bay area woman is working on launching an online tool to help others in domestic violence situations safely leave their abusers.

The idea came from the blue plaid satchel Ashley Atherley, 28, kept hidden in her desk at work. Inside the bag, they found birth certificates, bank account information, all of her two daughter's records. The pack contained the key documents Atherley needed to successfully leave her abusive relationship.

Unfortunately, she never made it that far.

On December 1, Atherley was discovered dead. According to police, she was murdered by Edly Atherley, her husband who she had recently separated from and was in the process of divorcing.

"You know I can't bring my daughter back," Atherley's mom Lucia Robles said choking back tears. "But finding that information was invaluable. It allowed us to put her children in a safe place. Without it, it would have been very, very difficult."

Robles has now decided to devote her life to getting her daughter justice and fighting for others in a similar situation. Through the generosity of The DocSafe, Ashley's family is coordinating with The Spring of Tampa Bay to launch what they hope will be a nationwide effort called "Ashley's SafePack."

The SafePack will be a virtual space for domestic violence victims to safely upload their important documents free of charge. They'll then be able to access them anywhere with an Internet connection, hopefully making their exit both easier and safer.

"I feel like this is a really good tool to help keep women safe especially when used in conjunction with a professionally trained advocate at one of the centers," said Mindy Murphy, President/CEO of The Spring of Tampa Bay. "We always say that victims should not try to do this alone." Murphy pointed out that abusers often use these important documents as a method of control.

"Now she'll have those documents stored electronically, so she can access them from anywhere and she doesn't have to feel like I can't leave because I don't have Johnny's birth certificate," Murphy said. "The more documentation they have, the more likely they are to get things restored to them that rightfully belong to them."

It's some much needed strength at a time, this local mom knows all too well, can be the most dangerous of all.

"If I could save just one young lady like her that would be okay," said Robles.
A portion of the proceeds from the upcoming "Ashley's Angels Golf Tournament" will be donated to The Spring of Tampa Bay to help launch "Ashley's SafePack." The tournament is being held on Friday, October 17 at the Claw at USF.

Attention Busy Moms: This Kickstarter is For You!

With Kodabug starting to really get the hang of feeding herself, comes some problems. There is the normal mess of course, her wanting to feed herself everything, among other things. Last week, she was feeding herself, I walked to the refrigerator to get mustard for the Tbomb and Kodabug threw her plate across the room. Seriously?! This mess was insane. Now, I just let her eat off her high chair tray, but I know there has to be a solution.

I have been informed of an amazing Kickstarter project. This is a project I just had to bring to my readers. You guys are seriously going to love this. Even better- support the project and get a great deal in return.

Adi, the Stay-Put Plate is the answer to so many mom's feeding troubles.

The Story

When it comes to eating with a toddler, having the right product can make mealtime enjoyable or a total disaster. Currently, the portable placemat products or bowls use adhesive or suction to affix to a table surface. However, a curious toddler can easily remove it and toss it aside.

That curious toddler turned out to be our 18 month old daughter. While dining out one day, she pulled a self-adhesive placemat off the table. Food went flying everywhere and landed on a man seated at the table behind us. There were peas stuck in his hair, meatballs on his head, and his nice white dress shirt was covered with spaghetti and red sauce. In that moment, the idea for Adi was born.

Adi is the perfect mealtime solution! Invented by Karen Weiss Kart, an attorney turned entrepreneur and mom of three, Adi is a stylish, modern, and whimsical stay-put plate that appeals to both kids and grownups. Your child will love the cute penguin shape, and you will cherish how well it works.

The Product

This plate has a unique suction cup that really stays in place. It also has a quick removal tab, but it only works for adults. Because of the great design, curious toddlers do not see it, and cannot get to it.

With three divided sections, keep all foods separate, even during travel. We know how those toddlers are about food touching. (Actually, I'm the same way)

There is also a lid for easy travel. The lid snaps tight and prevents the foods from mixing, even when bouncing around in a bag. This is perfect for dining out, play dates, and even storing leftovers.

I just adore the penguin design with the fish handle on the lid.

Kickstarter

The Kickstarter project is to raise funds for production, and manufacture 5,000 units.

Prodigi Kids’ mission is to bring products into this world that bring families together and put a smile on the faces of kids and grownups everywhere. Adi is the pefect mealtime friend!
They have designed amazing perks so that you can truly benefit from helping to fund this project.

Some of them include: Adi and custom organza bags, magnets, private dining experience, and more. The perks start at $3, so anyone who wants to help can.

Mail Call: #VitaVoxBox

Disclaimer: I am part of the Influenster Network. For this, I receive samples to review. All opinions are my own.

It is no secret that Influenster is one of my favorite networks. I love that every box is different- I get so excited when I get that email that it is on its way! Also, I love that I can do as much or as little to earn new badges as I want. If my schedule is hectic, I can make adjustments. I have found so many great products through this program! This time, I was selected for the Vitality Vox Box (#vitavoxbox)

I was very impressed with the products this go round!

1. Softlips Cube. I love the way it makes my lips feel. They are so moisturized. It is a 5 in 1 and even has spf in it. My only complaint is that because it is a cube, I can't put it in my pocket. I have to keep it in my makeup case, or it gets lost in the bottom of my bag and gets nasty.

2. Elizabeth Arden Flawless Future sample. I enjoyed using this sample, but wish it was a larger size. It is just hard to tell how good something is without a larger sample size. However, I did like how it made my face feel after using it.

3. Playtex Sport Fresh Balance tampons. I do love these tampons. They are comfortable and you don't have to worry about leaking when you are chasing the kids.

4. Pure Leaf Lemon tea. I LOVE this stuff- so yummy. If you haven't tried it, you must. This company does a lot to "pay it forward," so be sure to tweet/ Instagram with #loveofleaves

5. Bikini Ready Gummies. I really wish I had gotten a larger sample of these. Some Influencers received a bottle, but I received a sample with 2 gummies. The taste was great, and as far as I could tell really would help with energy levels. The recommended dose is 5 a day though, so I couldn't give an accurate try.

6. First Degree Burn Cream. This might just be my favorite of all. I love natural/ homeopathic remedies. In fact, my aloe plant died last winter and I keep meaning to get another. The problem with this preference is that it isn't always handy. First Degree burn cream is homeopathic, so I love having this for the kids. In fact, I keep it in the diaper bag- that way I have it no matter where I am.

Home is a Haven

Disclaimer: This is a compensated post, but has great information!

Organizing a home isn’t hard to do, but it can seem that way. With simple steps, each room of the home can be whipped into shape. The first step is to downsize on what isn’t needed. This is hard for some people to do, but people can get rid of items that are broken, that can waste substantial time to fix, that they haven’t worn in a while or items that are extras in the home. For instance, it’s not necessary to have three can openers. Keep the one that works the best and donate the others to those who need can openers.

Another way to organize things is to use storage bins. If items cannot be donated or thrown away, they can be placed into bins that can be stored up in the attic or a closet somewhere. These items may be family heirlooms or holiday decorations. Other useful areas of storage may be under beds or in the garage. There are several places to store items and getting a little creative can make the home more efficient. Keep only the items that are needed in each room. Clear out all the rest. This will cut down on the time needed in cleaning.

Once the clutter is cleared out, arrange items with other like items. For example, use drawers to combine like items, such as cooking utensils. This saves time in putting items away and retrieving them for use at a later time. Distinguishing items to their respective places is not hard to keep up. The brain will absorb the information of where items are put and after long, putting things away in their proper spot becomes a habit.

The garage tends to be the place most people store stuff and although storage bins can be placed in the garage, organizing everything else becomes necessary. The garage is more forgiving than the rest of the home for methods of storage and the items that can be placed there. For instance, it’s not expected that paint can be kept in the living room, but it’s normal to have paint in the garage. An excellent way to organize the garage is to use garage cabinet sets.

Once the home is organized, enjoying it becomes paramount. One way to enjoy it is to sit back and relax. Others take to decorating the home by adding a pillow here and a throw there. Just don’t go overboard.

Announcing The Winners #Yummification

Disclaimer: I have been compensated for my participation in this program. However, I really do drink 5 Hour Energy quite often. All opinions are my own.

In August, I wrote about the #Yummification contest. 5 Hour Energy brought us this competition as a way to encourage their customers to mix 5 Hour Energy with their favorite drink (non alcoholic/ non energy/ no caffeine).

I was excited to write about all the benefits of 5 Hour Energy, like the vitamins. I also expressed how I cannot live without it. My schedule is just too hectic, and I need help to get through some (most) days.

I loved sharing my Palmetto Energy Zinger with you and even sharing why I chose this particular drink as my ode to my favorite state- South Carolina.

The giveaway winner was ecstatic and I promised all that I would bring the information on the #yummification winner as soon as I new something. This was such a fun competition that I just couldn't wait to pass this along!

Exercise and Enjoy Music with Limm

Disclaimer: I received this product to review. All opinions are my own.

This Limm Sports Armband has been a lifesaver for my husband and myself. It is of very good quality, meaning that it can endure my exercise, chasing the kids, and even the kids pulling on it. I even sent it to work with my husband one day. He does construction and enjoys listening to music, especially while he paints. He is able to wear this, protect his player, and have his music conveniently on him, without the strain of having his headphones go from pocket to ears.

The fabric is soft, but when you sweat, it does not become uncomfortable or fall off. I love the key pocket, especially for my walks. I just wonder why I never got one before. With tons of great features, this armband is a must for everyone!

Enjoy a Crisp Autumn Breeze

I received a product in exchange for my review. All opinions are my own.

First, I want to say that my husband and I had been wanting one of these for quite a while. We never did purchase one because we honestly didn't think it would work. Boy, were we wrong! Thanks to Mega Mesh, we have the perfect solution to nice weather!

Not only is it easy to install, it functions as described. It "locks" tight, keeping bugs out. At the same time, it is easy enough to open that the dogs can use it as well.

In the Autumn months especially, we like to turn off the central air and let the breeze blow through the house. It was nice having the windows open, but kind of wished we had a screen door. Now, our problem is solved. We have the nice storm door for its purpose, but we have this screen door for nice weather, so the air can circulate. Its so refreshing to breathe crisp fall air.

Also, we have a lot of get togethers at our house, so having this when people are going in and out is not only convenient, but also energy saving. We just turn off the air and let them go and come as they please, without worrying about our energy consumption.

If you have been on the fence about this amazing product, jump on over- its worth it!

Toys to Stimulate the Imagination: The Best Gift of All

The imagination of a child is amazing. Every parent wants to choose the best toys to stimulate their child's mind. In today's world, there are plenty of options for selecting and purchasing toys. Parents can go online and visit toy stores around the world. And, of course, parents can always visit traditional, brick-and-mortar stores in person. Either way, children and parents alike can have fun shopping the aisles and selecting the toys and games that stimulate their minds and imaginations.

Quality Time for the Whole Family

Shopping for toys and games is a great way for parents and children to spend quality time together. Whether online or in-store, browsing the aisles is a perfect time to relax and let the imagination wander. Playtime is a wonderful way to nurture creativity and stimulate the minds of children, as well as adults. In-store shopping is a good way to get a feel for the games and toys that bring out the most excitement and joy for the children. It often brings out the excitement and joy in the adults, too!

Selecting the Best Toys

It's wonderful to see a child’s eyes light up when they get a new toy. The best toys will make playtime is more fun and inspire creativity . Stimulating a child’s imagination helps him develop many skills. Ensure the child has a wide variety of toys and games to play with so he can grown and learn as the good times keep rolling. When selecting toys, consider the following:
  • Child's age
  • His interest
  • How he likes to play and interact
  • What's popular!
Types of Toys and Games

Toys and games help children develop in many ways. Almost all toys fit into multiple categories for enhancing child development. A small sample of toys and how they help include:

Dolls, dollhouses, action figures – stimulate the imagination as children create imaginary worlds
Costumes – inspires creativity allowing children to be anything they can dream up
Play sets and furniture – allows children to imitate real life
Building toys – enhances problem solving skills
Board games and puzzles – helps children develop strategy and forethought
Outdoor toys – exercises both fine and gross motor skills

Getting toys for a child can be a lot of fun. Setting aside time to spend toy shopping can make it a fun activity instead of just another errand. Children are often fascinated with toy stores. Some people never lose the fascination of toy stores even long into adulthood.

Choosing the Best Toy Stores

The best toy stores will be wonderful and fascinating offering toys, games, gifts, face painting, birthday and holiday items, educational toys and an assortment of unique toy finds. In addition, the store should also have toys for all ages from birth to teen years and beyond.

Bring out the creative and artisitic skills in a child. Provide them with toys and games that challenge their minds while inspiring them to explore their imaginations. The best toys will not need electricity, batteries or additional accessories. A child's imagination will be enough to get the best toys going.

Vtech For The Win: Smart Animals & #Giveaway

Disclaimer: Product, information, and item for giveaway have been provided by Vtech. All opinions are my own.

I have mentioned before how much I love Vtech toys for my little ones. Tbomb has several and we've never had complaints. Recently, I was given the opportunity to review a new toy from Vtech. I was especially excited about this one because both Tbomb and Kodabug are within the age range for the Go! Go! Smart Animals. We received the Go! Go! Smart Animals™ Forest Adventure Playset™ and two Go! Go! Smart Animals™. This particular product has been released as an extension of last year's big release- Go! Go! Smart Wheels.

Not only is this toy adorable, but it teaches so much. The animals that go with the play set are specially designed so that they do different things when located at different "smart points." I'm also a huge fan of toys that can be added to. This is a great option for a reward system. For each goal met, purchase a different addition to the play set!

Go! Go! Smart Animals™ Forest Adventure Playset™:

The play set comes with a SmartPoint bear. The bear plays with the additional animals as well. At each SmartPoint location, he responds with different phrases, music, or sound effects. The Forest Adventure Playset has two SmartPoint locations and four manipulative features that encourage problem solving and find motor skills. (Ages 1-5 years; MSRP: $14.95)

Go! Go! Smart Animals™:

The Go! Go! Smart Animals add to the fun of the Forest Adventure Playset and additional Smart Animals toys. They are perfectly sized for little hands and even have a light up button that plays fun animal sounds, sing-along songs, and teaches letters and animal names. The animals work with the Smart Point locations of the Go! Go! Smart Animals and Go! Go! Smart Wheels playsets. Available animals include: monkey, tiger, lion, hippo, giraffe, elephant, zebra, and alligator. (Ages 1-5. MSRP: $7.99)

It is very rare that I run across a toy that is appropriate for both my 1 year old and my 4 year old. I love that they can play together and there is something for each of them to gain. Kodabug laughs at the animals and rolls them. (Of course, she puts them in her mouth.) She is even starting to mimic some of the sounds. Tbomb likes that they are "animals cars" and he can drive them through woods. He has been trying to get Kodabug to say what the animals say "Koda, say Zara the Zebra." It is so adorable watching these two play together and both of them learn from it. Tbomb also loves that he gets to "teach Kodabug." While Koda hasn't quite gotten the concept of rolling them on the playset, she is very attached to the zebra. In fact, I can't leave home without it. It is adorable hearing her laugh and push the button, which is easy enough for her to use. This keeps them entertained for hours, which is rare and allows mommy to work. VTech, you really have done it again!

I Just Love Parties: #FitMadeFun

Disclaimer: I had the privilege of hosting a MomSelect party and received goodies for the party. All opinions are my own.

This year, LeapFrog and Clif have partnered to get kids active this fall. With the release of the LeapBand and Clif Kid ZBAR Protein, getting healthy more fun that ever before. To celebrate, Fit Made Fun Day was celebrated in California on September 6th. Families were encouraged to participate in 60 minutes of motion either at the event or virtually. The goal was to set a world record with the most people moving at once. Fun, right.

Update from LeapBand: Soccor star, Mia Hamm, and over 300 kids and parents became Guiness World Record Holders on September 6th for most people hopping on one foot (321), most people making sand angels (292), and most people doing the swim dance (318) at the Fit Made Fun beach event in Santa Monica, California.

Considering that 75% of children do not get the recommended amount of daily exercise, this is a huge feat!

We have to work together to find ways of getting our children more active and eating healthier. LeapFrog and CLIF ZBAR is helping, and making huge strides. We have to take this further because this is the first generation of children not expected to live longer than their parents.

Lets take some inspiration from LeapFrog, CLIF, and Mia Hamm to make our children realize how fun being active is. I don't know about your child, but Tbomb would like nothing more than to hop around on one foot all day long!

Gathering for our party.

As part of their virtual event, my family was chosen to host a party. We did our party on September 6th. We held a play date, provided snacks, and let the kids run wild. We made sure the kids drank plenty of water, had some fruit, and ate thier Clif Kid ZBar Protein.

We Had plenty of activities to keep the kids busy, like 4 year olds really need help with this?!

I met a few other moms at a park and asked them each to bring outside toys that encouraged movement. This ended up being the best thing for 4 year olds. We ended up with hula hoops, badminton sets, wagons, sacks, and anything else you could think of for outside play. We got the kids to take turn playing with the toys together.

I must say that this was definitely a success. In fact, I'm thinking of making this a common thing. Several times a month, we'll meet at the party and do this.

Because we only had a few kids at this play date, we were able to do it again at TBomb and Kodabug's birthday party. Letting the kids run wild in spurts allowed them to enjoy the party and not squirm trying to be still.

LeapBand is a truly unique children's product. It encourages movement through games. Tracking the child's movement, the virtual pets are taken care of. You can even connect it to your computer to set school and sleep mode. In these modes, the games are blocked, although movement is still tracked. During sleep and school times, the LeapBand functions as a watch. When connected to the computer, you can track progress and even add challenges, although there are built in challenges. There is even an app available from iTunes, Google Play, and LeapPad that corresponds to the LeapBand to earn extra rewards.

My favorite feature is that it requires no batteries- it is charged via USB port. Also, it is educational and encourages an active lifestyle. There are spelling challenges as well. Within a day, TBomb had started spelling CAT and DOG. He would randomly spell them throughout the day. The LeapBand is going to be one of the huge toys this year for Christmas as well. From The Toy Insider: "Congrats @LeapFrog #LeapBand on making our #TITech12 list! See the full list here: bit.ly/1sljhgqpic.twitter.com/OWFl5PolO4"

Clif Kid ZBAR Protein is Tbomb's new favorite snack. I actually can't believe he likes it, because he doesn't usually care for things like this. The bars come in mint chocolate, peanut butter chocolate, and chocolate chip. Tbomb asks for them all the time. With them having 5g of protein, 3g of fiber, and made with organic whole grains, they are definitely a win in my book. ZBar Protein also has no high fructose corn syrup, synthetic preservatives, or artificial flavors. (There is also none of that horrible red or yellow dye in them).

If you are interested in getting kids together to get them moving, encourage a healthy lifestyle, and show that moving is the most fun, be sure to check out the LeapBand Party Planning Guide. There are tons of resources and printables to help make an active and memorable party!

Easy Vegetables and #Giveaway

Disclaimer: I received a product to review. All opinions are my own.

With my beautiful Kodabug getting older, we have been exploring new menu options. We started with using a garlic press to mush food, but now she's eating what we eat. I've been wanting ways to make it easier, and to make food fun for my very picky Tbomb.

Briefton's InstantVeg came to the rescue with this awesome spiral slicer!

Because of the unique slicing mechanism, I can turn any firm vegetable into a fun dish for the kiddos. I can make veggie fries, veggie pasta, and veggie ribbons.

This makes it easier to feed Tbomb and Kodabug raw vegetables, but I can also cook them and create fun dinners that get the kids excited about healthy foods.

When you order, they send you a recipe book with 20 healthy spiral slicer recipes. This should be in every mom's arsenal.

It comes with 4 cutting widths and really is as easy as turning a handle. Slice directly into your dish/ pan or slice in to the attached bowl. It even comes with a lid that locks in aromas. I love that it is all contained, so there is no risk of finger injury and the design makes it easier to slice larger vegetables.

The InstantVeg spiral slicer has become my favorite kitchen gadget. I'll even take it camping with us!

Would you like to win your own Briefton's InstantVeg spriral slicer? Just comment below on how it will make your life easier for a chance to win one of your own!

Winner will be chosen October 1.

Become A Weight Guru: #SkinnyJeans Update

Disclaimer: I received a product to review. All opinions are my own.

I am still doing my 90 day fitness challenge and it has proven to be tougher than I realized. My weight is fluctuating like crazy. I think a lot of it can be attributed to stress and hormones. However, that does not make it any less frustrating. I still weigh because I need that way of measuring to stay on track, but I was dreading and procrastinating when it came time to weigh. The Weight Gurus took care of that problem for me!

The Weight Gurus are set out to help people reach their fitness and health goals. They knew there had to be a better way of managing and tracking weight, so the weightless scale came about.

By the way, they do live up to their claims!

I was intrigued by the idea of a weightless scale. While for the moment, until I get below a certain number, I am sticking with the actual weight option, I'm excited to switch gears in the coming weeks.

The accompanying app is a lifesaver and an encouragement tool of its own. If I'm a pound over last week, my app shows me that I'm still 5 pounds down from last month. Its like your own personal cheerleader.

The options of the scale are truly amazing. I open the app, and get ready to record my weight, step on the scale, get my reading, and when the screen changes to the code, I scan with my phone. This is by far the easiest tracking tool I have used! Plus, at $24.99 on Amazon, it is a great deal!

The scale can weigh up to 400 lbs (much higher than most), has an 8 user memory, x-large back lit display, 4 high-precision gauges, Auto on, auto user detect, and low profile design. 100% Satisfaction guarantee/ 5 year warranty. that is an amazing list of features. This thing is more like an appliance than "just a scale."

This scale has been a lifesaver and kept me on track with my fitness journey. Even if the pounds are not changing as quickly as I would hope, I can feel the difference in myself. Thank you weight gurus for keeping me accountable.

Homeschool Tools: TheO SmartBall #giveaway

Disclaimer: I received a product to review. All opinions are my own.

As we continue on our homeschool journey, I have been looking for things we can use now and for years to come, especially with Kodabug in the mix now. One of the biggest things I've learned so far is to have educational activities that can change up the process. I like to be able to have Tbomb still learn, but do something different when he is getting antsy, instead of punishing him. Enter: TheO SmartBall.

This ball is awesome. Although I could use my phone with it, I choose not to (I have to be able to take photos). I use a small 4.7 inch tablet we have that isn't being used much. (In fact, its mostly used in the car.) I've downloaded TheO apps to it and we dove in. Some of it is a little advanced for Tbomb, but that just shows me that it will be relevant to us for years to come.  The version we have fits up to a 4.7 screen, while the new XL version will fit a Galaxy S5 or the new iPhone 6.

TheO apps include Math Flash, Active 123 and Hot Potato. These apps use the different features of smart phones, like motion detection, to add to the experience.
TheO™ SmartBall’s revolutionary technology has combined physical activity, learning and fun into one dynamic experience. Kids love all the incredible Apps! Simply, download one of our fun-filled apps from the iTunes App Store or Google Play. Insert your Apple or Android device into the TheO™ SmartBall, and let the fun begin. You will be amazed at how much fun your kids will have interacting with TheO™ SmartBall.

In addition to TheO apps, I have found an amazing use for this ball. I have installed several "rattle" apps for Kodabug. She likes these while we do school and on the rare occasion she is fussy. I used to worry about her throwing the tablet, but not anymore. Now, I just  pop it in TheO SmartBall and let her have fun. Even outside, I don't have to worry about it landing on the gravel because the device sits so far inside the foam that there is no way it is going to touch a surface.

We are still finding new ways to use TheO SmartBall in our home and school. I'm thinking about having a family game night with it and using the big screen options shown on the website.

Meet Lulu and Her Friends

Disclaimer: I received a product to review. All opinions are my own.

Have you met Lulu? Well Painting Lulu is the first print to digital coloring experience to grace us with it's presence! This is the cutest thing I have seen for the littles!

Meet Lulu is a 3 in one bundle that features Lulu and her friends. They are recyclable consumer goods that represent different parts of life cycle of environmentally friendly products.

  • The coloring book is printed on 100% recycled and recyclable paper.
  • There are over 10 different characters, each of them equally adorable.
  • The free app that accompanies it allows the child to scan the QR code and color on a device. (Making it perfect for travel).
  • Available in the iTunes store, Google Play, and Amazon app store.
  • The free digital crayon is adorable and durable.
  • There is a one-click sharing feature so children can share their artwork with their parents.
  • There are free coloring pages available online.
I love that this integrates technology with classic children's entertainment. Although my son has his own tablet, he is still only allowed a certain amount of tech time (unless it is school related). I still want him coloring with crayons. It is nice that he can do this, but learn about technology too.

Meet Lulu has gotten him excited about recycling. I now get scolded when I throw something away, even if it is not recyclable. He loves asking questions and then coloring the page. He especially likes that I can scan the code and he can take it with him.

Homeschool Tool: #Sabor Spanish Learning Songs

Disclaimer: I received a product for review. All opinions are my own.

I did not enjoy Spanish in school. Actually, I really disliked it. I dreaded it every day- almost as much as math. I have been looking for ways for the kids to learn languages that will not set my anxieties off. We all know that if we are dreading it, they will too. Spanish was at the top of my list, so when I was given the opportunity to review ¡Sabor! – Spanish Learning Songs, by WhistleFritz, I jumped!

image description

I received ¡SABOR! – Spanish Learning Songs, and was absolutely impressed! You can listen to clips of these adorable songs on the site. The songs are colorful, fun, and educational. My little guy loves them and giggles the whole time. They keep his attention, so I know he is learning!

Using several classic children's songs, this CD teaches phrases and vocabulary used in everyday conversation. They are so fun, the kids want to listen. The translation guide will help you assist your children in learning and help you follow along.

Train's New Album: Bulletproof Picasso #Review #O2O

I participated in the Train Bulletproof Picasso album review program as a member of One2One Network. I was provided a free album to review but all opinions are my own.

I have been a fan of Train for quite a while now. There is just something about their music that speaks to your soul. I was so excited when I heard about their 7th studio album, I just had to get on the train (haha). Train is one of the few bands that I didn't stop listening to when I became a mom. I do not have to worry about certain words, yet I was actually getting to listen to adult music. Of course, I was very excited.

Bulletproof Picasso was released September 16, 2014. After listening to it, I'm officially in love!

Believe me, if you love Train, you will be in love with this album!

Kodabug smiles the whole time this album is playing and Tbomb has insisted I put it on his tablet so he can listen with his headphones (he calls them "hear its"). My husband has even requested I add it to his playlist. It isn't often that we all find music we love. I should have known that if anyone could do it, Train could!

Track Listing:

1. Cadillac, Cadillac
2. Bulletproof Picasso
3. Angel In Blue Jeans
4. Give It All
5. Wonder What You’re Doing For The Rest Of Your Life
6. Son Of A Prison Guard

Football, Verizon, and a #Giveaway

Disclaimer: I have received product strictly for use for giveaways.

One of my absolute favorite things about Fall is football. I love football parties, watching while I cook, having it on in the background on Sunday afternoons. I enjoy all football, but pro is my favorite. I love the Steelers, the Saints, and the 49ers.

One of my favorite memories is watching the Cowboys and 49ers play with my dad. There is something magical about football season that begs for parties, food, festivities, and fandom. In fact, I'm thinking about planning a football party as I write this.

Luckily, Verizon gets it, that is why they have partnered with NFL to create the best app for football fans. (Press release below)

Jeff Dezen Public Relations has been helping spread the word about this partnership and has offered something special for readers of The Palmetto Queen. Find out how to win one of two Otterbox cases below the press release.

NFL Mobile Evolves to Keep Fans Better Connected to the Gridiron

The popular app begins new service offerings today to better cater to NFL fans whose viewing habits are increasingly tied to their smart devices.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – With the NFL season just days away, Verizon’s deal with the NFL to stream live game footage to mobile devices just got a lot sweeter for fans. NFL Mobile, a versatile app that’s proved instrumental in preparing fans to draft and track fantasy football teams, will now offer Verizon customers on MORE Everything data plans free access to exclusive features – to include live games – streamed to a smartphone.

The app is free to download but has traditionally offered premium video content to Verizon Wireless customers for $5 monthly access. For the 2014-2015 season, MORE Everything customers will have free access to Sunday night, Monday night and Thursday night games, as well as Sunday afternoon games in the local market. MORE Everything customers will also be able to access the NFL Network 24/7. For an additional $1.99 per month, customers can access NFL RedZone to see a compilation of game and scoring highlights. Verizon customers with different data plans can access NFL Mobile premium content for $5 per month.

“Each year we’re seeing things like fantasy football grow in popularity, and being able to watch games on the go, check scores, make changes to line-ups from a smartphone has become an essential part of fans’ game plans,” said Jerry Fountain, president for Verizon Wireless in the Carolinas and Tennessee. “We’ve seen usage of NFL Mobile grow, and we feel the anticipation for the season building, especially as we talk with customers about this new benefit for football fans.”

For fantasy football enthusiasts, the app helps them keep up with team news, final scores, highlights, scoring plays and fantasy line-up reminders. The app also sends notifications when a player is injured, providing fantasy-league members time to adjust their line-ups for the upcoming week.
