Book Review: National Geographic Books For Kids

Disclaimer: I received books to review. All my opinions are my own.

National Geographic books for kids have been a staple in our house. My son Tbomb only reads books he can learn something from. He is very rarely seen reading a novel, yet his nose is always stuck in one of his many National Geographic For Kids Almanacs. He has the past 4 years of them. Well, now 5 years. He still reads them all and loves them. he is always telling me new facts that he learns.

Those aren't the only Nat Geo books he has and he loves them all. I have fallen in love with the Encyclopedias!

With nothing comparable available, it is sure to be a valuable resource for kids, students, librarians, and families.

Treasury Of Bible Stories

The timeless tales from the early books of the Bible (the Old Testament and Hebrew Bible) have captivated generations. In this lush storybook, the fresh voice of lyrical storyteller Donna Jo Napoli and the lavish artwork of Christina Balit bring classic stories to life for a young, modern audience.

Noah's Ark, Moses, David and Goliath, the ten plagues, Daniel and the lions' den, Jonah and the giant fish, and many more of the Bible's most powerful stories--27 in all--are compellingly retold in this beautifully illustrated treasury. Readers will be fascinated by the ancient people and events they encounter, surprised by some of the lesser known accounts revealed, and inspired by the lessons these tales impart. Stories cover important ground beyond religion, such as culture, history, and geography, and they touch on issues that remain relevant today--faith, loyalty, kindness, violence, generosity, greed, jealousy, and more. These accessible, readible stories give kids a rich picture of biblical times, which encourages them to think about our role in the world and to learn more.

Napoli's magicial storytelling is sure to ignite children's imaginations. Along with Balit's stunning art, this is a book kids will want to explore again and again--a classic that families can read aloud together.

Book Review: How Great Is Our God

Disclaimer: I received a book to review. All opinions are my own.

Tbomb loves science! I mean loves it, but he really struggles with why scientists tend to not believe in God. He says that if they will just read the Bible, they will understand more. I agree- he said what killed the dinosaurs isn't a mystery- it was the flood! He's so smart!

When I was offered How Great Is Our God, I knew that it would be perfect for him. We actually use it for our daily devotional in the morning when we start school and it is perfect!

A follow-up to his bestselling children's devotional, Indescribable, pastor Louie Giglio's How Great Is Our God offers 100 incredible new facts and devotions about God and science to stir your child's amazement for the Creator.

Show the children in your life the awe-inspiring connection between the natural world and the God who created it.

The bestselling children's devotional Indescribable: 100 Devotions About God and Science resonated with more than 200,000 kids, parents, and teachers. Now Louie Giglio offers 100 more devotions about God and science that will expand the curiosity of your 6- to 10-year-olds. Including amazing scientific facts, beautiful photography, fun illustrations, and simple activities, How Great Is Our God covers topics like

Space and time
Earth and weather
The human body
Animals
Plants
And more!

With this science devotional, which is based on Giglio's well-known "How Great Is Our God" and “Indescribable” messages, children will embark on a journey to discover more about God and His incredible creation. From the pink lake in Senegal to the earth's trip around the sun to the water-holding frog that can live up to five years without a drink, the wonders of the universe will deepen your kids’ appreciation for God's wild imagination.

I'm sure this book will be read again and again in our house and that the kids will get something new from each reading.

Book Review: Night Night Devotional

Disclaimer: I received a book to review. All opinions are my own.

In our house, books are loved. We read A LOT! Each night, I read a chapter from a book I want the kids to hear, read a devotional, and then they get to take turns picking a book to read. When I started Night Night Devotional, Tbomb insisted that he would read it to Koda each night. They love it and it is an awesome thing to see.

Bedtime is the perfect opportunity to snuggle your little ones close and remind them of God's presence and love. In this book of 100 devotions for kids ages 3–7, bestselling author Amy Parker and illustrator Virginia Allyn invite you to begin a tradition of prayer and devotions with your children to carry them through the years to come.

Each of the devotions in Night Night Devotions begins with a Bible verse and includes Night Night questions to encourage interaction with your children. If you want to use the book as a companion to Night Night Bible Stories, the devotions have corresponding titles that accompany each Bible story—with much more in between! Each devotion ends with a rhyming Night Night Prayer that emphasizes God’s love and care, such as . . .

Dear God, I love You more than

There are fishes in the sea,

But there's no way that I could love You

More than You love me!

Night night, God.

With cheerful, colorful artwork and sweet Night Night rhymes, this devotional is sure to become your family's new bedtime favorite.

We absolutely love it and I'm sure the kids will read it over and over again. Once Koda learns to read, I'm sure she will read it as well.

Holly Lane: Jewelry Inspired By Your Favorite Scripture

Disclaimer: I received a product to review. All opinions are my own.

I fell in love with Holly Lane Jewelry as soon as I opened the package.

I try to keep the words of Proverbs 31 in my heart and mind as I work my way through each day. Sometimes this is what I struggle with the most, besides praying about something and giving it over to God and not worrying. While I'm working on that, this Proverbs 31 necklace, especially the raw ruby, keeps it fresh. I often find myself touching my cross throughout the day. Now, I also touch this gorgeous necklace by Holly Lane and I'm reminded of these amazing words. I'm reminded daily about how I want to live my life and raise my daughter.

Our line of sterling silver Christian jewelry is intentionally designed to create opportunities to share Christ with others, and to be worn as a personal reflection of faith. Each piece is designed in central Virginia by jewelry artist Tiffany Scott who has based her designs on verses from the Bible in order to bring comfort to the wearer and be a representation of God's promises. These unique designs are meant to catch the attention of others and spark conversation about the verses they are based on.

Each piece of verse-based Holly Lane jewelry comes with a Story Card that features the verse reference on the front, and an explanation of the design's significance on the back. Tiffany's love for semiprecious gemstones shows through in her use of many different gems throughout the line. The Holly Lane line is designed so that the customer can put together their own personal combination of pendants, chains and bead drops based on the promises they are holding on to and how God is currently speaking to them in their lives.

Book Review: Only You Can Be You

Disclaimer: I received a book to review. All opinions are my own.

I haven't posted in quite some time. My daughter has been having some serious health issues. We have even had to pull her from public school. Turns out, she has an autoimmune disorder along with some other issues that we are waiting on a further diagnosis of, as well as some genetic testing. Bless her heart. Her symptoms seem to be getting worse as we play this waiting game. But, we still have good days as well. This is one of those- we played a lot today since she felt good. Now that she is in the bed, I can get some work done.

This Book: Only You Can Be You has been a blessing to our family. As many of you know, Kodabug has other problems besides these medical issues, including expressive communication disorder, anxiety, OCD, spd, and some issues with her fine motor development. Koda was being bullied some, but we would just read her this book and she would feel much better about herself!

Some kids like to dance and laugh out loud, and some sit quietly and make up stories in their heads—but we're all different, and that's okay because the maker of everything made us this way!

In their first picture book, bestselling author Sally Clarkson and her son Nathan encourage children on the journey to discovering their strengths. Mother and son duo draw on themes from their first book, Different, the emotive story of Nathan's experiences growing up with mental illness and learning disabilities and Sally's journey to loving him unconditionally. With the powerful truth that what makes you different makes you great, Only You Can Be You will help children embrace their differences and celebrate the differences in others.

The irresistible rhymes paired with Tim Warnes's whimsical illustrations encourage your children with the reassurance they're looking for in their own uniqueness. Whether they are quiet or artistic, funny or boisterous, your children will love this heartwarming read that assures them that they're wonderful exactly as they are.

What a wonderful book!
