Zelda: Blogging From A to Z

Today is the last day of Blogging From A to Z, which ties into something else. At the end of every month, I sit down, look through my stats and social media, and see what I did right and wrong in that month. Every once in a while, there are posts from months ago that are still getting attention. One of those posts caught my attention this month.

Several months ago, my husband and I had a date night at home, playing Nintendo 64. We pulled out the old games, got some snacks, and hung out in the living room all night. We played several games, but I Instagrammed Zelda, and it has gotten a lot of attention. That got me thinking.

So much of our lives revolve around technology, and my life and family are no different. Even my 4-year-old has a tablet (that he doesn't' get online with). I've seen where families try to ban technology for a day, and it doesn't work. Honestly, it wouldn't in mine either. Where we are going wrong with this is we are banning instead of redefining. Why not make it fun.

Say, instead of banning it for a day, we're going to a different decade. Pull out the old school camcorder or home movies. Bring out the old gaming platforms (I wish I still had my Atari), and even the polaroid instant cameras. I'm sure most households have something of the sort. If you don't there are all kinds of arcade games available for download on Xbox. Just turn off the internet to it, bring out the snacks, and have fun. Don't forget to capture those memories (even if you do Instagram them.

YaDa YaDa: Blogging From A to Z

Lately, I feel like I've been babbling so much. I need to explain why my posts have been short and to the point. I've been posting multiple times a day because I set a goal.

My goal with doing the A to Z challenge was to make every one of these posts separate from my planned, scheduled, or sponsored posts. I've done it so far, but it has also meant that these posts have been shorter. I'm a little behind on everything else, but I have really been enjoying this challenge.

I can't wait to do this again next year. Maybe I'll choose a theme like organizing, technology, homeschool, or family activities. What would you guys like to see more of

Colour Matching and Family Room Design Ideas

If you have decided to start with the renovations in your home, you definitely need a successful plan that will allow you to achieve excellent final results. The perfect look of the room depends on its right design as well as on the correct matching of the colours. You do not need to be an expert or to seek for professional advice as long as you possess the right imagination and the suitable tips.

In case you wonder what are the best options for your family room, this article will help you to receive modern and fresh ideas. If you consider the style of the family room old-fashioned it is high time you provided some changes that will make this place cosier and more comfortable. Sometimes, matching of the right colours and furniture can play a decisive role for the look of the family room, so my advice is to roll up sleeves and to show your amazing creative skills because everything is about to change right now.

Of course, not until you take a look at the following lines:

The Warm and Floral Colours

This design is typical for such kind of family rooms that have fireplace. Here the warm and welcoming colours such as light brown and even certain tones of bright yellow are more than acceptable. If you want to stick to the traditional white colour for the walls, you can pick a dark brown furniture that will highlight the cosiness in the room. Some beautiful floral pillows on the sofa will match perfectly here and the same goes for the carpet that you choose. Do not be shy, and experiment with the colour of the carpet – red or yellow floral motives, situated on its surface will ideally compliment the design of the room.

The Modern and Sophisticated Palette of Colours

In case you are looking forward for a more contemporary look of the family room, the best option is to think of leather for your furniture. And what looks more sophisticated than a white leather, combined with the right tables and accessories? White colour has always been a preferred option, as it makes the room look more spacious. You can combine white leather furniture, with a small glass table. As for the walls, you can look for the very light tones of pink or yellow that will match in an excellent way with the furniture. As far as the carpet is concerned, you can spread your imagination and think of a light brown option, if you want to make the carpet the focus of the room.

Making the Contrast

If you search for more innovative look of the family room that still looks classy and timeless, my personal advice is to trust the black and white. Of course this does not mean to decorate your walls in black. You can choose the wall, situated above the fireplace and to make it black. For the rest of the walls the white colour tends to be the ideal option. Search for a black and white carpet and make it the focal point of the room. As for the furniture you can choose among white and brown colours as well as the fresh yellow for the pillows that will be situated on the sofa.

These are some fresh ideas for colour matching and excellent design of the family room. Pick the one that responds to your requirements and taste and do not hesitate to make the renovations right now. For maintaining excellent look of the room, clean it on regular basis or hire professionals like CleanersLondon NW3 and remove the dust by using appropriate cleaning equipment. In this way you will create a wonderful and inviting place for welcoming your friends and relatives.

Thank you anna for another amaing guest post. Anna is an expert in organizing and cleaning. Home improvement is in her blood (literally) - she is a daughter of a professional organizer.

Year Of The Groom: Registering, Not Just For Her

Disclaimer: This is a sponosred post, but tips and opinions are my own.

I've got weddings on my mind, especially now. You see, my baby brother got married on Friday. This is strange to me because he is my baby brother, but I'm so proud of him for making this milestone. He's such a different man than we was just a couple years ago. He's a daddy now, working 2 jobs, loving his family, and married to the woman he loves. My other brother, 2 years my junior, got married last year. We are all married off, and their weddings have been a bit different for me. Most of the weddings I've been involved with have been of girlfriends, so these 2 have gotten me thinking.

We usually think about bridal showers and gifts for the bride. Engagement gifts for the bride. What would the bride like in her home, so on and so forth, what about the Groom? When my husband and I got married, it was pretty much the same, and he didn't mind. However, there were family and friends that did think that way- most of them gifted us with camping gear, since we both love it so much. With my brothers' weddings, everyone has thought of her and what she would like in their home. I sit here thinking about my brothers and thinking that this should be "the year of the groom."

It's time for the Groom to be more involved in the registry process. With MyRegistry.com, the bride and groom can work together to create the registry of their dreams. They can select all the items they want and make the world's best all-inclusive registry. Why shouldn't your favorite couples' registry include grills, tents, china, bedding, and even a vacation? Yes, with MyRegistry.com, the bride and groom can work together to create the registry of their dreams. They can select all the items they want and make the world's best all-inclusive registry. Why shouldn't your favorite couples' registry include grills, tents, china, bedding, and even a vacation? Yes, with MyRegistry.com, they can register for larger gifts that will allow multiple people to contribute to it.

My favorite thing about MyRegistry it is an all-inclusive registry- the items can be found anywhere. No need to be bound to one or two stores when registering. For the groom, add items from Home Depot, Best Buy, and even the Microsoft Store. These items stand beside items from Bed, Bath, and Beyond, Target, and even Bloomingdales.

So, track down your favorite groom, or couple, and send them to MyRegistry.com. I have a feeling both of them will thank you. They could even make a date night out of it, curled up on a love-seat shopping online together.

The really cool thing about MyRegisty.com is that anyone can use it, and it doesn't even have to be for a special occasion. It is perfect for classroom teachers to register for supplies, an organization that needs different items, new homeowners, and those going to college in the near future. The possibilities are endless.

Xbox: Blogging From A to Z

When I first got married, Xbox was the bane of my existence. I have changed that opinion a good bit since then. Now, although it annoys me at times, I see the benefits of having an Xbox around.

It gives me quiet time when I need to work. It also entertains the kids with cartoons. I can have a date night with my husband with movies on demand or playing a game together. (We like to play Mortal Kombat together). As I've been diving into planning homeschool, I've been finding even more uses. There are educational games, educational shows, and even entire apps devoted to education and children.

I'm so glad I have changed my opinion on it, what are your thoughts on the Xbox?

Easiest Bean Dip: Freshen Up Your Fiesta for Cinco De Mayo (#PublixFiesta)

There are two Old El Paso items that are staples in our house. Refried beans and Salsa. There are so many uses or both of them, and our pantry is never without them.

Refried beans can be used in place of meat. They are also easier for young kids and older adults to eat than a lot of meat. In fact, Kodabug prefers refried beans to any meat. Salsa can be added to most dishes, giving it a special kick. You can also add it to a salad, wrap, or even sandwich for a low-calorie treat.

I have something special to share with you today though. This is my favorite appetizer recipe. It is apparently pretty yummy too, I made it 5 times before I ever got to taste it. Even better, it's about the easiest recipe ever.

I always used a small slow cooker to make it, but you can use a pot on the stove as well.

Just mix a can of refried Old El Paso refried beans, a jar of salsa, and cheese together. Heat until it is all melted together and mixed well. Serve with a dollop of sour cream and taco chips on the side. What an easy and delicious appetizer recipe. This is one of those things that whenever I would make it, it would be gone by the end of the night. My secret is to use a creamy cheese, like velveeta or similar.

If you are looking to add some special pizzaz to your Old El Paso refried bean dip, I have just the thing for you. Mash an avocado and add it in before you cook. That will give you that special Fiesta flavor that only Avocados From Mexico can give. If you would like, add some lime juice for extra zing.

This dip is perfect to freshen up your fiesta. It is also perfect for any party, football Sunday, girls night in, or even a playdate. I make this dip for just about everything, seriously- why mess with a good thing?

What to know a secret? Well, it's not really a secret, but it's awesome. From April 30th, until May 5, 2015, Publix is offering some amazing in store savings to help your Cinco De Mayo Celebration even more special. Head to Publix and freshen up your fiesta. Check out the special printable coupon Old El Paso is offering as well. You can save $1 when you buy 3 Old El Paso items.

Old El Paso has amazing products to help with this mission. I've raved about their refried beans and salsa, but they also offer chopped chilies, taco sauce, and dinner kits to make even an everyday dinner special. I know when we make tacos, the family just seems to enjoy our time together so much more. Add some Avocados From Mexico to your weeknight meal to add some freshness and something that is so healthy too. Their website has some amazing Cinco De Mayo recipes, but I think we should just celebrate every day.

Guess what? One lucky reader can win $10 (via PayPal) to make your own bean dip, or other Old El Paso and Avocados From Mexico dish. I can imagine the yummy smells now. To enter, just comment below and let me know what you think of the new products from Old El Paso and Avocados From Mexico and let me know which recipe you would like to try. After you win, head on over to Publix and grab what you need to freshen up your fiesta.

Wishes: Blogging From A to Z

Isn't it strange how our wishes change over time? As kids we wish for it to rain candy, to become a princess overnight, or even to ride a dinosaur. Those wishes are pure. as a teenager, we wish for good grades, our prince charming, and a date to prom. As a college student, we wish the hangover would go away, wish to make it onto the dean's list, and wish for a faster car.

Then, the wishes change even more when we make it into adulthood. We wish for a better job, for an engagement ring, and the house of our dreams. Then, when that positive pregnancy test arrives, our wishes change the most drastically. We wish for healthy babies, for them to be happy, and for them to always have what they need.

I sit here and think about how my life has changed in the last 30 years, and how it will continue to change even more. I couldn't wish for anything besides my children's future at this point- I have all I could ever want or need.

Spreading The Love with Huggies #UltraHug

When I was pregnant with my son Tbomb, I had no idea what to expect. I had questions, and I wasn't really around other pregnant women a lot. After I left my job, my mother made me an appointment with a local organization. She told me that it would be like a support group, since so much had changed in my life. Within 6 months, I had found out I was pregnant, moved in with my Mr, gotten married, left my job, and was preparing for motherhood. That's a lot of change for someone that doesn't like change. Mom was worried about how I was dealing with all fo this, so she made me the appointment,

This appointment ended up being with an organization called The Foothills Pregnancy Care Center. It has changed so much since then. Now, they not only offer a support group, but classes, ultrasound, help with appointments, and have a "Baby Boutique," where new and expectant mothers can get pregnancy and baby gear by earning points and coming to appointments.

FPCC is a Christ-centered organization, run by a local church. They help all of those in need though, not just Christians, and not just their denomination. The organization is growing and I hope to see them continue this growth. Something like this is needed in every community. Now, the first thing I tell expectant mothers is to give them a call.

I hope to see them continue their outreach and be able to help all of those that they are continuously trying to help.

Because of this, I nominate the Foothills Pregnancy Care Center for the #ultrahug grant from Huggies.

Huggies is making it their mission to give back to communities everywhere. From April 20th until June 25th, Huggies is accepting entries to their #UltraHug contest. There are 10 $2000 grant up for grabs to help the winning community project. On July 6th, voting will begin.  This voting will between the 20 finalists and will select the 10 winners for the #UltraHug Contest.

Entry is simple, it just requires a selfie. Take a selfie with you and your baby and upload it to Twitter or Instagram. In that post, nominate the community project of your choice. Be sure to name the project and give a brief description as to why they need a hug! Your nomination should be between 100 and 120 characters. Be sure to submit your nomination here.

I love it when companies I adore stand behind a cause. That is no different than with this contest. Huggies is a brand I know and trust. This contest just makes me stand behind and support them even more. Huggies Snug & Dry Ultra diapers are my go to for my little one. They offer long lasting leakage protection, with guaranteed comfort. They are the only diapers to offer a quilted lining to help lock away wetness even better. The conforming gap-free fit and leak lock layers keep your active baby protected for up to 12 hours.

Volume: Blogging From A to Z

Why does life not have a volume button? I'm not joking!

I'm sitting here with a headache pounding in my ears and the volume of everything around me is set on max. The kids are finally in bed, but that didn't stop the noise.

Even the sound of my mouse clicking is setting off the sharp pains going through my head. I wish I had a remote control to mute everything around me. I'd go to bed, but even the pressure of my pillow makes it worse.

I'm done whining about it now. I want to urge you all to find out what the triggers are with your headaches because that can really help. Why take meds for it, when you can prevent it in the first place. For me, certain colors can trigger one, but the biggest problem with colors is extremely contrasting colors, like neons with black, and black and white. I think the one today was caused by too much cheese, which has a way of triggering a headache.

How do you manage? I prefer a cherry pit pillow, but I usually end up taking sinus medication or ibuprofen. I would love to hear what you do to make the pain go away.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Understanding: Blogging From A to Z

In general, I've never been a very understanding person. I understand that things happen and mistakes will always happen. What I tend to be the least understanding about is when people blame their childhood for not taking care of their kids, doing drug, or just generally being a person that cannot be trusted. I mean at 17, 18, 19,  I get it- you're just coming in your own and really beginning to learn right from wrong.

What I'm talking about the 30-year-olds that are hooked on hard drugs, leave their kids with just anyone, and don't even bother to clean their houses. I don't accept the excuse that "there isn't enough time in the day."

Seriously, when all you do is sit on the couch, there is plenty of time. Furthermore, if you would clean your house a little each day, it wouldn't take a whole day to get it clean for dinner company. It's things like this that cause me to not be a very understanding person. I mean seriously, at  some point, you have to grow up, stop blaming everyone else, and do what needs to be done.

Awesome Camping Equipment: Lantern and Power Bank in One!

DIY Vegetable Garden #SummerPrep2015

My husband is already gardening like crazy. We have new houseplants, sprouting trays everywhere, flower pots sitting in the sun, and the strawberries are already pruned and flowering. It is when I see this that I know Summer is just around the corner. I know that it won't be long and I'll be eating fresh produce standing in the yard, watching Tbomb (and now Kodabug) eating strawberries.

Today, I want to share a really awesome Infographic about DIY gardening that I think you will really enjoy. You can find the original here.

Tbomb: Blogging From A to Z

My Tbomb was born September 26, 2010. My life changed forever that day, in more ways than one. His birth story is quite interesting, but that's not what this is about. This post is about him and the name that has stuck with him since the day he was born. I do not use his real name for privacy reasons, but Tbomb might as well be his real name.

When he was born, he had a gas problem. This was evident within the first few hours of his birth. In fact, at one point the smell filled the room and it was like no one could breathe. My MIL jokingly called him Tbomb for setting that bomb. Obviously, that stuck and I don't thing that is going away anytime soon.

Through all of phases, ups and downs, tantrums, and sweet moments, Tbomb has stuck and I think it always will.

Standridge: Blogging From A to Z

My maiden name is Standridge. It was the name I associated myself with for 25 years. The name has quite the story behind it too.

My mother and I spent many Saturdays researching our family tree at the local library. For a special trip, she would even take me to do crayon rubbings at cemeteries. Before we started doing this, she decided we would research my dad's family because my aunt already did hers and she wanted us to know our history and where we came from.

One of the most interesting things we would research was the origins of our name. Being such an interesting name, Standridge was quite the name for debate. at one point, we were told that it is a Native American name, originating from Standing Ridge Mountain. We thought that was a little convenient, but went with it.
Later, we found out that the Standridges actually came from England, so that explanation was void.

A few years ago, we were talking to a historian about the spelling of names, in relation to census, family bibles, and such. He was telling us that with so few people being able to read and write, names were often misspelled. The example he used was Standridge- that it is actually a misspelling of Standish and that we are decedents of the historical family.

I don't know what the actual origin is, but I find it very interesting and like to think of what life was like for different generations.

Rejuvenating: Blogging From A to Z

Yesterday, we sat out on the porch for a while. I was starting to stress, knowing that I needed to get some work done or I would be behind. I also knew that the kids needed that time outside with their family. I didn't know what to do, but the stress was not leaving me. So, I decided to do both. I took my laptop out and worked while the kids played. The sun felt nice, it was nice to be as a family, even if I was working, and it was nice to have the best of both worlds.

In the afternoon, the storms started rolling in. I am terrified of storms. I blame it on Hugo and what our family went through, but I also know that several of my family members have an irrational fear of storms, maybe my fear lies deeper than Hugo. Whenever a storm comes, I get very tense, I'm on high alert, and I'm not much good to anyone. It worries me that I'm going to cause my children to have the same fear as me, so I tend to switch places with my husband and have him handle them. He enjoys storms, so they will watch them together and he'll tell them all bout storms, weather, and how that helps the plants.

The storms finally stopped, the sun came out, and I was at peace. I realized something at that moment. Even though I'm scared of them, storms are rejuvenating. It almost feels like all the stress, worry, and tension are being washed away. More than that, the thunder and lighting is like all that negativity rolling off. Then, the sun comes out and it's like a fresh start. Maybe that's why I feel there may be a more deep reason I'm afraid of storms. Maybe I'm afraid to come face to face with the problems that cause me stress- I'd rather face them and get it done than sit and think about them, all the while watching it all unfold before me.

10 Things To Do Now To Plan Your Summer: #SummerPrep2015

As I mentioned before, my family is in full swing of planning our summer. While some details cannot be hashed out quite yet, there are steps to take now to make sure that your summer goes as smoothly as possible. All this, while still fitting in all the adventures you want to take with your family.

10 Things To Do Now To Start Planning Your Summer:

  1. Sit down with your calendar and go ahead and mark any important dates. This would include traditional things like weekends away, birthdays, and even festivals. This will help make sure you don't double schedule.
  2. Go ahead and schedule doctor appointments, eye appointments, vaccinations, physicals, and any other appointments that are best scheduled during the summer. This gets you in before their schedules are filled, helps you not rush at the end of summer to get it done, and marks another thing off your list.
  3. Decide which programs you want to participate in. While you may not be able to schedule anything yet, making a list of those things and finding out when details will be available just helps keep you a little more organized. On my list right now is summer reading at the library, a karate workshop for Tbomb, and to see what the state and county parks have on their schedules that the kids would like to do.
  4. Start your summer bucket list. Grab a piece of paper, word document, app, or dry-erase board and start making your list of what you want to do with your family this summer. I like to have it where my husband can add to it. We talk about it with the kids and Tbomb has his own ideas. Our list is getting pretty long, now including a trip to Stump House, catching fireflies, picking blackberries, and fishing.
  5. Start gathering your family's must-haves. You may have to order some, and you really do not want to be scrambling on your out of town on vacation or on the way to the beach. See my list here
  6. Get your household maintenance projects scheduled. While some things cannot be done quite yet and are reserved exclusively for summer, you can go ahead and put them on a calendar to get them done early in the season, making sure that you can enjoy the rest of the summer.  Some things are best to go ahead and get done now, like prepping the pool, planting flowers, and making repairs around the house and yard.
  7. Clean out the car and get it organized. Go ahead and purge items kept in the car and place inside what you need. Put in picnic supplies, blankets, a few toys, and activity kits for the kids. Don't forget to include the firstaid kit , extra clothing, and swimsuits.
  8. Think about routines. Even if your children are not in school, routines are important. Something about the summer distrupts them for everyone. It may be the weather, the drive to have fun, or the need to get outside. I'm not sure, but it does something to us. Go ahead and start thinking of ways to keep some sort of routine in place. This may be family breakfast, set quiet time, or chores at the same time each day. Just go ahead and make a plan for this. It will make your summer go more smoothly.
  9. Start gathering some activities for your kids to keep them busy. Even if you don't work at home, there are going to be times that you need them to keep themselves busy. This may be for making phone calls, cooking dinner, or a quiet coffee break on the deck. Go ahead and gather puzzles, games, coloring books, and other activities they can do themselves that will keep the kids busy. You can pick up many of these at Dollar Tree- that's where I got ours.
  10. Plan to have fun. Make a list of fun family activities that can be done anytime that life gets overwhelming or the kids are board. Other than this, know that spontenaety is fun and needed. Every moment of every day cannot be planned and our children are the most important things in our lives, so have fun with them while they are young.

Crispy Fruit: A Healthy Snack That Travels Well

Disclaimer: I received a product to review. All opinions are my own.

As you all know, I love any snack or meal that is healthy, travels well, and is free from all the dyes and other yucky stuff out there. When Crispy Green gave me the opportunity to review their Crispy Fruit, I jumped at the opportunity for my littles to try them out. They sent us apple, tangerine, apple pear, banana, and mango. They also come in cantaloupe and pineapple. Well, I'm allergic to mango, so I don't let the kids have it either. That was no problem though because my MIL really enjoyed those.

The kids LOVED eating these. They are not like some other dried fruit that is so hard that you can barely eat them. These are more like chips. They are 100% dried fruit, which I find amazing. I tasted the apple ones and they taste just like an apple, just without the mess running down your face and everywhere else.

These single-serve pouches are great to throw in the backpack, purse, diaper bag, or even just keep in the car. Guess what? They are TSA friendly as well, so pack them for a healthy in-flight snack. I know I will be keeping these on hand to grab for a day away from home.

They are non-GMO, no dyes, no added sugar, no preservatives, no anything that we all know causes horrible health and psychological problems! (Plus a super big yay for my red dye sensitivity). Even better, there are only 55 calories per bag, so even great for the mom on a diet.

These are available for $7 for 6 single serve pouches or $1.49 for a single serve pouch. You can get Crispy Fruit online or at a variety of retailers. Check out their website for more information and information on where to purchase.

Questions: Blogging From A to Z

Do you have a 4 year old? Have you been around one for more than 5 minutes? Then I'm sure the word questions comes to your mind. Tbomb turned 4 in September. That kid asks more questions than I thought was in existence. When you answer, he simply asks why? While at times, I'm working and really need him to stop asking questions, I really love it. I love his curiousity.

Another thing about it is that we are a homeschool family, so the questions really open up the opportunity for lessons. Lately, he's been on a kick about weather. While we patiently try to answer the questions, I am trying to find an appropriate weather curriculum for him. We do not explain the way some do to kids. We explain like we're talking with another adult.

He always understand and follows. Because we never put him in that "just a kid" box, he understands much more than the average 4-year-old. That is what makes it difficult finding the right curriculum for him. So much that is created for his age is "dumbed" down from what he understands, but a lot that is for ages older than him, he just isn't ready for. Also, I really don't want him to get too far ahead before he's even "legally" supposed to be in pre-school. All I know is that I will continue to encourage his questions and explain answers the best I can.

10 Must Haves For Summer: #SummerPrep2015

Although we are just getting into spring good, My family is steady preparing for summer. We are gathering those must have items, packing our "outing" bag, as well as the car trip bag and beach bag. The kids' backpacks are packed. We're almost ready for a spontaneous road trip. There are a few items that the Mr and I are gathering that we know will make our summer much more enjoyable. These are the items I have decided are must haves for the summer.

This is the beginning of a series about prepping for the summer #SummerPrep2015. I encourage you to follow along as I share my tips for organizing the kids, the car, your calendar, and everything in between. I even have a couple of craft ideas to share with you that will make your life much simpler. This series will span over the next month and focus on keeping your family safe, healthy, entertained, and organized through the chaos of summer. I will cover working at home with spunky kids, vacation, road trips, picnics, and even errand days. I think you will really enjoy it and be able to use my tips.

Here are my 10 Must Haves for Summer:

1. Waterbean When we wnt on vacation last summer, I made a huge mistake. I forgot to get bottled water before we left. That may not seem like such a big deal, but when you have a baby still on formula and a preschooler that loves water, it is a big deal. I kept having to go to the convenience store to get bottled water, since we couldn't use tap water (something you are not supposed to do while away from home). It ended up costing us more money this way and I was determined to never have that problem again. Well, I stumbled across Waterbean and fell in love. Now, I can just fill up our regular water bottle, pop this amazing purifier in it, shake and have fresh water for the kiddos without having to buy bottled. Save money and the environment. This does not purify "dirty" water- it removes impurities, minerals, and suck from the tap water.

2. An Amazing Bag  I'm not going to tell you which bag to buy, as that is a personal choice. In fact, I'm still trying to find the right bag. I like to carry a big bag, with a smaller purse in side of it. I put the kids stuff in the big one (snacks, change of clothes, extra entertainment, neccesities, etc) and throw my small purse in on top. I just want to urge you to find that perfect bag for you and your family. It could be a simple canvas tote, or a bag with lots of pockets and features. The right bag will make all the difference in staying organized.

3. Dry Bag Do you spend a good bit of time near the lake, ocean, river, or pool? We do, so a dry bag is a must. I can put our phones and other electronics (you know we have a lot) in it and not have to worry about the kids splashing or accidentally knocking it in the water. It is also great to keep dry towels and clothes in, as well as car keys and other valuables. We love this 5L bag from Skorch

4. Frogglez *I received this product to review, all opinions are my ownWith Tbomb getting more comfortable in the water, we have added to his pool collection. We switched him from a life jacket to water wings and floats, he even has flippers and goggles. However, even though he loved not getting water in his eyes, he wouldn't wear them for long. I can't blame him- I can't wear goggles- they get tangled in my hair. Enter- Frogglez. They are neoprene, which is comfortable. They don't get tangled in hair, and are adjustable for any size head. In fact, you can even wear the strap with just about any other goggles. How awesome is that?!

5. Balloon Ball Tbomb and kodabug both got these balloon balls in their easter baskets. I thought they were a cool novelty, but didn't realize just how cool There is fabric in the shape of a ball, you put a balloon inside of it, blow it up, and tie it off. You can even add water or sand to the balloon to make it heaver. ( I reccommend water). No more busted balls because the dogs thought it was cool. No more being at the park with no ball to play with. What did I do? I put them in the kids' backpacks. It never fails- if we are outside, Tbomb wants to play with a ball and Kodabug wants what Tbomb has. Never be caught without a ball again. Her is one similar to what I got the kids at Dollar Tree. BearPawCreek

6. Mosquito Bands *I received a product to review. All opinions are my own.* We spend a lot of time outside. Do you know what South Carolina Summers mean? Bugs- especially mosquitos, and lots of them. We don't like using sprays on the kids, and are cautious of products made with essential oils. So, we seek out things that deter bugs without putting chemicals on their skin. We keep a supply of these repellent bracelets. What I love about them is they work for a certain distance radius (depending on the brand) So, I can wear on and it works for Kodabug too. Tbomb can wear one on his ankle and they are both safe from itchy bites.

7. Food Squeeze Pouches Even though neither of our kids eat baby food anymore, these reusable food pouches are a must in our family. Whether we are out for errands, having a picnic, or taking a car trip, we can have healthy snacks and meals for the kids witout aas much mess. I just get them different kinds of applesauce to fill. It's healthy, mess free, and much cheaper than buing the already filled packs.

8. Play Packs These little puches can be bought for just $1 at Walmart, Dollar Tree, and similar stores. They contain a coloring book, crayons, and stickers. They also make a $5 pack that has a bigger coloring book, more stencils and crayons, felt pages, and stencils. I get the $5 packs for major things (like when Kodabug had to go to the cardiologist and I needed Tbomb entertained) and keep a couple $1 packs for restaraunts, rewards, and when we are somewhere extra long.

9. Neutrogena Cool Dry This stuff is amazing. I keep it in the bag I take everywhere (aka "outing" bag) so that I have it whether we are roadtripping, at the lake, at home, or camping. It is SPF 70, non-sticky, made with helioplex technology, and helps sweat evaporate, but keeps the protection in place. We have it in a spray, making it so much easier to keep the kids protected.

10. Sunglasses for the family As long as they have sun protection, the brand doesn't really matter, but I suggest you make sure the whole family is outfitted in good sunglasses. Eye protection is very important and this is the best time to check out your family's current sunglass situation.

I hope you enjoyed my list- what would you add to it?

Zarbee's: The Answer to Mom's Prayers

Disclaimer: I received a product to review. All opinions are my own.

As a mother, one of the things I worry about the most is whether or not my children are getting the nutrition they need. Once Tbomb got big enough to take vitamins, I didn't worry as much. It helped ease my rising worry on those days that I couldn't get him to eat. Then, Kodabug came along and I worried all over again. I can't give her chewy vitamins and I worry that she isn't getting the nutrition she needs.

The other side of my worry is what the medicines and vitamins actually contain. I worry about additives, preservatives, dyes, and so much more. Is that really necessary to the function of the medication or vitamin? I don't think so. Does it really help giving your red dye sensitive kid a medication that contains red dyes? Furthermore, why are we putting these things in our children when we know they are dangerous and actually banned in many other countries. (In fact, did you know that Kraft mac and cheese actually has a different recipe they send outside of the US without the dyes and junk that is in our food)

I am completely in love with Zarbee's Naturals and although I don't want to see my babies need this stuff, I'm at ease knowing that Zarbee's has my back and I can find safe and effective products in the time of need.

Zarbee's Naturals is the answer for our family. Their Baby Multi Vitamin with an iron supplement is perfect for Kodabug. Use a syringe to administer the liquid vitamin and you are good to go and have your nutritional worries at bay.
