Martial Arts for Kids: A Homeschool Resource

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Being a homeschool family, we are always looking for new ways to challenge Mac. These challenges should be more than "just" math, science, history, and language arts. All of the arts, sports, and social sciences should be included as well.

We have been dying to get Mac in a Martial Arts class, but it is hard to find one that caters to preschoolers and has a wide range of the Martial Arts. When I was selected to review an online Martial Arts for Kids class by Phil Weaver, I was absolutely ecstatic. We have had to take them slow and even repeat each course a couple of times, but he is only 3.

While I love the whole layout of Udemy, this post is about the fantastic Martial Arts for Kids course.

One of my biggest annoyances with courses for children that involve other cultures is the lack of basic etiquette knowledge. I read a Japanese language book once that did not even mention the Japanese word for "Thank You." I know the word, but not everyone does. Other cultures' etiquette is extremely important, especially in the oriental cultures. That is one reason that I am so excited about this course. Greetings, salutes, and even tying the belt are included.

The main thing that is so great to me about Martial Arts for Kids is that it is actually a class in a dojo being recorded. The instructor is talking to the children and relating to them. I think my Mac felt like he was actually in the class.

There are 15 lectures in the course and they range from 5 minutes to 37 minutes in length. There is even a 23 page student handbook included. This course will be utilized for quite a while in our homeschool journey. It has even opened my eyes to the possibility of using more videos in our homeschool life.
