Magnetic Learning Toys from The Learning Journey International

Disclaimer: I received products to review. All opinions are my own.

These two love playing with educational toys, especially if they are magnetic. I love that they play with them and they can be used for school! Win on both sides!

The Learning Journey International sent us some magnetic boards to try out and give our opinions on. Personally, I love them and so do the kids. Both boards feature a magnetic surface, a lapboard-like construction, storage for the coordinating pieces, and "game cards."

Magnetic Spell and Learn Board

From TLJI: Learning to spell has never been this much fun! This unique learning system is portable, sturdy and contains 40 interlocking magnetic upper case letters, 10 magnetic pictures, and a handy storage compartment. The Magnetic Spell and Learn Board will help your child focus on developing early vocabulary, spelling and basic phonics skills. Ages 3+ years.

This board is perfect for both of my kids. Snapper is learning letter recognition. We play this in a couple of ways- she has to find the letters in the word, or I tell her a letter and she puts it on the board. Of course, she likes playing with the letters as well.

Tbomb is spelling, so he can spell the words on the cards, his spelling words, and even spell words I say out loud to him. The interlocking letters make this even better. Also, opposed to buying a set of magnetic letters, there are more than one of each letter, they interlock, they come with a built in case, and there are cards to spell with. It is perfect for young learners.

Magnetic Make A Shape Board

Magnetic Make A Shape BoardFrom TLJI: Children of all ages will find Magnetic Make a Shape fascinating as they discover the world of tangrams. The set includes 44 shape pieces, a magnetic board with a built in storage compartment, and 17 puzzle cards that will teach children about transformation, conceptualizing, problem solving and creativity. Your child will have hours of interactive learning fun creating new objects out of fun shapes. Ages 3+ years.

My children love tangrams, so this was a natural choice for them. What I love is that it is much neater. Usually, they end up with the wooden pieces every where. It is helping Snapper with shape recognition, matching, and even learning to put the shapes together. She is starting to follow along with the pattern cards and doing decent for her developmental stage.

Tbomb loves matching the cards and coming up with new designs. He treats them almost like building bricks at times.

The only drawback is that we only have one set. I guess that is a lesson in sharing though.
