Homeschool Resource: DK Workbooks

Disclaimer: I received samples to review. All opinions are my own.

I have been a fan of DK workbooks and activity books since I was a manager at a local bookstore. I always loved seeing the new books come in and looking through them. I also loved meeting with the DK publishing reps and helping to pick out the books we would advertise and carry in the store.

Once our homeschool started, I knew that I would supplement our lessons with DK workbooks. What I didn't anticipate was working through them so fast because Tbomb absolutely loves them and wants to do them all the time. I have even started sticking pages in his folder that stays in his backpack. It is a folder, spiral notebook, clipboard, and pencil case. I put worksheets in them for him to do while SnapperBug is in her appointments. It keeps him busy and content, while still getting some school done. He loves it because it is something he likes to do.

Dorling Kindersley sent me a couple of workbooks to review. I love the handwriting one because it covers concepts beyond handwriting. There are reading lessons, punctuation lessons, and even lessons on capitalization. The problem-solving workbook was perfect for him because he loves math and understands concepts beyond what most kindergarteners do, so it keeps him busy, shows him how math is used in the real world, challenges him, and even shows new ways of solving problems. I will continue to use DK workbooks with each child in school.
