Get Organized For Next School Year: Morning/ Group Activities

Disclaimer: I received products to use in this post. All opinions are my own.

I have found that morning work is a great time to work in lessons that either last all year (time/ date/ money/ etc), that are built on, and that are great for both kids. During our morning time, we work on our calendar, basic money, time, routines, Spanish, sign language, yoga, and more. This is also when we do our devotional.

I created a "portable bulletin board" out of a shipping envelope and that is what we use for our calendar because we do not have a designated "school room." It works perfectly. I lean it against our tabletop pocket chart, which is what we use for our other morning lessons. I love seeing the kids learn together and I have noticed that when Tbomb helps Snapper, she gets it easier, and he is more eager to learn more.

For some reason, the order of the days of the week and the months is something even Tbomb struggles with, so this is something great to work on during morning time, as well as patterns. Time and money is something that is always great to review. I love using our "morning meeting" as a review time. Plus, it helps Snapper along.

All of these items come in an amazing bulletin board set from Carson-Dellosa Publishing. It also includes money, charts, lots of numbers, calendars, and so much more. This is the ULTIMATE calendar set. It is the "Morning Meeting Solution Bulletin Board Set" and is available on carsondellosa.com. There is also a similar set that has resources for preschool and kindergarten.

Once you have the basics of your morning meeting/ group time, you can work other lessons in. This is a great time to tackle social skills, health, basic foreign language, and so much more. As you are working on finishing up your planning, keep this in mind- it may help free up room for other lessons as well- especially if it is something all of your kids will benefit from. That is why our morning time is one of the first things I get planned out.
