Disclaimer: I was sent products to review. All opinions are my own and I really do LOVE Thirty-One Gifts!

Hey Y'all! Can you believe that spring is almost here? It feels a little cold, but my calendar says she is on the way. What does that mean for my family? That I am starting to plan summer fun, trips, and getting us organized for the fun. There are some products from Thirty-One that you are going to want to grab before the month is up to help you be organized for summer travel. These are only available until February 28th, so hurry!

This bag is beautiful! There are plenty of pockets for everything I need (I actually use the outside pocket for hospital masks and gloves, as well as tissues and travel Lysol (my kids can lick the floor in Walmart and not get sick, but if they walk into a doctor's office they come down with something. So, they wear masks and gloves and their shoes get sprayed with Lysol when we come out). My City Lights clutch has plenty of room, too! My planner even fits without a struggle! The Diamond District bag from Thirty-One is my new best friend!

It may not be the best photo, but I LOVE this convertible belt bag from Thirty-One Gifts. There are card slots inside and room for a phone and whatever you may have to have for a night out or for walking around. I hate shopping with a big bag, so this is perfect when we do our mountain town shopping. Its also great for concerts and more. I love that it can be a waist bag, a crossbody, or a shoulder bag.

Check out these gorgeous new flaps for the Studio Thirty-One Bags

This Thirty-One Gifts All Pro tote is exactly what I needed for travel. I use a tote and a clutch when we travel so I have what I need, but I don't have to carry the whole thing all the time, like I would with a purse. It has everything I need- even a shoe compartment, which I use for first aid!

The Baubles and Bracelets case is perfect for the jewelry I wear the most often, as well as when I travel- I just throw it in my suitcase. Plus, I love this Horizon Stripe print!!!

Four Ways to Bond with Your Child at a Pinewood Derby

By Troy Thorne, author of Building the Fastest Pinewood Derby Car

Spending time with your child is one of the most rewarding aspects of participating in the Pinewood Derby. The following are a few simple principles will help make the Pinewood Derby a truly rewarding experience for everyone involved.

Work as a team.

Find a way for your child to participate in every step of the process. The best way to accomplish this is to let him perform as many steps as possible. Teach by example whenever you can. For instance, you might show your child how to complete a step of the process on one side of the car and then allow him to do the same step on the other side of the car. If he is unable to complete the step by himself, assist him but be sure he participates as much as possible. Some steps must be performed by an adult for safety reasons. Even in these situations, try to find some way to safely involve your child in the work you do.

Let your child pick the color and detail options.

If she wants to add detail, such as stickers or decals, encourage her to express her creativity in this area. Allow her to place them on the car. Putting your child in charge of different aspects of the project shows her that you value her judgment.

Teach skills and techniques as you work.

Building a Pinewood Derby car with your child is a great way to develop woodworking, math, and science skills. Go over all of the tools and their uses with your child and help him understand how they work. When it’s time to actually build the car, remember to teach by example and to allow your child to learn at his own pace. You might show him how to hold the coping saw and then let him make the cuts on the car by imitating the position and techniques you’ve demonstrated. Always encourage your child: be quick with praise and downplay small mistakes.

Make it fun.

The Pinewood Derby is a great opportunity for you and your child to create a special bond as you work together to build the car. Give yourself enough time so you and your child don’t feel rushed or overwhelmed. Remember, building a Pinewood Derby car should be a fun experience for both of you.

10 Gift Ideas For Cancer Survivors #ThirtyOneGifts

I have huge news! We have almost reached the one year mark from when my Mother-In-Law was diagnosed with very aggressive and advanced breast cancer. Her particular cancer was rare and required aggressive treatment. My MIL had the tumor removed and the results came back with clear margins- she is cancer free. She is currently having to have testing done to make sure it doesn't come back and she has Lymphodema- but, no cancer! Praise the Lord!

With this wonderful milestone, I thought sharing some gift ideas to celebrate cancer survivors would be a great idea! As always, Thirty-One Gifts has wonderful options.

31 Tips For Decorating A Shared Boy/ Girl Room #ThirtyOneGifts

Disclaimer: I received products from Thirty-One Gifts. All opinions are my own.

Decorating a shared room is never easy, especially when the room is shared between a boy and a girl. Here are some tips to help you navigate.

Thirty-One Gifts has a lot of coordinating colors and patterns that make decorating and organizing a child's room easier- this even works for a shared boy/girl room.

  1. Focus on a neutral color
  2. Use accent colors for each child
  3. Have a clear divider
  4. Use matching furniture
  5. Choose a common theme that can be customized for each side.
  6. Get the kids involved- you will be surprised at how much alike they are
  7. Keep it simple
  8. Shop for both children at the same time- finding coordinating items is much easier
  9. Focus on organizing- things can get out of hand quickly with a shared room
  10. Use the same comforter, but individual throw pillows and accents
  11. Choose an accent rug for each child- this will help define the spaces
  12. Toys can make excellent decor
  13. Have an accent wall for each child
  14. Choose a few matching accessories, like frames, lamps, etc.
  15. Focus on their personalities and let them shine through
  16. With a clear divider, matching furniture, and neutral paint color, each side could be decorated completely different.
  17. Consider each of their needs in the room
  18. Choose neutral lighting, curtains, etc.
  19. Mirror the sides
  20. Bring out the children's similarities
  21. Allow them their privacy with a curtain (if they have loft beds, they can have a private area under them)
  22. A bulletin board for each is a great way to let them express themselves while still keeping the decor complimentary.
  23. Consider crafting decor
  24. Consider the children's strengths and hobbies and decorate with this in mind.
  25. Focus on the beds and make them complimentary
  26. Have a neutral area for shared items- A TV stand is a good option for this
  27. Use a different quote on the same size canvas above each bed. (We did "Be A Unicorn In A Field of Horse" for Koda and "A Little Boy Is The Only Thing God Can Use To Make A Man" on Tbomb's)
  28. If you shop for used furniture (my favorite), paint them matching colors.
  29. Make sure each child has adequate storage
  30. Toys can make great decor
  31. Make sure they are happy with it- that is more important than making it match!
